Your account and your plan

Grow Food Together has one free plan and one paid one. This page explains the shape of that; the actual prices and limits live on the pricing page, which reads them straight out of the code that enforces them.

#What’s free, and stays free

Your record. Gardens, areas, plants, activities, harvests — however many of each. There is no row limit, on any plan, and there never will be. These are database rows and database rows are cheap; charging by the plant would mean charging you for gardening more.

Sharing. Inviting people into a garden, at any role, however many of them. Multi-person gardens are the premise of the app, so gating them would be self-defeating — and every person invited is someone new discovering it.

Public gardens, Explore, following and the feed. All of it.

Watering schedules, runs and exceptions. The whole watering side.

A photo allowance generous enough that ordinary use does not run into it.

A weekly briefing about your garden.

#What the paid plan buys

Two things cost us real money per user, and those are the two things you are paying for:

Photo storage. A much larger allowance.

The assistant. Chat, the plant doctor, harvest photo scanning, and a briefing that refreshes more often. See the garden assistant for what each of those does.

That is the whole difference. There is one paid plan, not a ladder, and it is sold monthly or annually.

#The free trial of the AI features

Every account — including free ones — gets a one-time allowance of the assistant, the plant doctor and harvest scanning, so you can see whether they are worth anything to you before deciding.

It does not expire. Sign up in November, ignore the assistant until March, and the whole allowance is still sitting there.

#If you stop paying

Nothing you wrote down goes away. Your gardens, plants, activities, harvests and sharing all keep working exactly as they did — they were never the paid part. You lose the assistant and drop back to the free photo allowance.

We are not going to hold your growing record hostage to a subscription.

#Where to change things

• Subscriptions in your account menu — your current plan, and how to start or cancel.
• Storage — what your photos are using, broken down by what they are attached to, with the ability to delete individual ones.
• Notification settings — what you get emailed about, and whether you get the weekly digest.
• Your profile — your display name, which is what shows on public gardens. It is deliberately separate from the name on your billing.

#A note on names

Your account carries two names on purpose. The display name is what other people see — on a public garden, on an activity you logged, in a garden’s member list. Your billing name is not shown to anyone.
